Side stream gas measurement for: inspired and expired O₂, CO₂, and anesthetics concentrations
Expiratory pressure sensor
Hot-wire flow sensor for measuring the expiratory flow
Hot-wire flow sensor for measuring the inspiratory flow
Ventilator pressure sensor
The Pmax/PEEP valve is active only in mechanical ventilation. It controls the maximum airway pressure during inspiration and the PEEP during expiration
Adjustable Pressure Limitation (APL) valve. It is active only in MAN/SPON ventilation mode
One-way valve exits gas to the Anesthetic Gas Scavenging System (AGSS)
Manual breathing bag. It is for ventilating the patient manually in MAN/SPON mode and as a reservoir for fresh gas during mechanical ventilation
Carbon dioxide absorbent
Ventilator (TurboVent 2)
Anesthetic Agent Vaporizer
Inspiratory valve
O₂ flush button delivers maximum flow of 75 L/min if the supply pressure is 6.9 bars and minimum flow 25 L/min if the supply pressure is 2.7 bars
O₂ switch to change between Additional O₂ through the vaporizer in the breathing system and Auxiliary O₂ directly to the patient
O₂ valve and flow tube for Additional O₂ and Auxiliary O₂. The Additional O₂ can be used for emergency; 100% O₂ goes through the vaporizer into the breathing
The APL-Bypass valve is active only in mechanical ventilation. It bypasses the APL valve
Expiration valve

Controlled ventilation

In controlled ventilation, the TurboVent2 rotates generating a small circular flow (0.6 LPM in expiration, 1.2 LPM in inspiration). The circle flow enables free spontaneous breathing even on high pressure levels and quick gas mixing in the breathing system. The APL valve is bypassed by the APL bypass valve. The Pmax/PEEP valve is active and synchronised with ventilator breath rate. It controls the inspiratory pressure during inspiration and PEEP during expiration. The blower rotates depending on the set values (Pinsp or VT) in PC or VC. In volume controlled, the TurboVent2 increases its speed till the set volume, measured by the flow sensor, is reached in inspiration. In pressure control, TurboVent2 increases its speed as well till the desired set inspiratory pressure achieved. In all ventilation modes, the manual bag serves as a reservoir for the re-breathed gas. During inspiration, the blower uses this gas including the fresh gas.
