Prediction of anesthetic gas concentration (optional)

Perseus offers the possibility to display predictive concentrations of anesthetic agent in the breathing gas. This requires the Vapor View option and Dräger-Vapor 3000 or D-Vapor 3000.

The anesthetic gas prediction is appropriate for patients with the following data only:

Height: 150 to 200 cm (59.1 to 78.7 in) Weight: 40 to 140 kg (88 to 308 lbs) Age: 18 to 90 years

The anesthetic gas prediction is not appropriate for the following patient groups:

  • Alcohol dependents
  • Greatly overweight patients (BMI >35)
  • Patients with severe systemic diseases (ASA >IV)

These restrictions in the patient data result from the scientific models all calculations are based on.

Using the anesthetic gas prediction

Prerequisite: The Agent prediction parameter field must be configured in the monitoring area and respiratory phases must be detected.

The following is displayed:

A Section for the trend of inspiratory and expiratory anesthetic gas concentration

B Section for the prediction

C Current vaporizer setting

The anesthetic gas concentration of the currently delivered anesthetic agent (or of the measured primary anesthetic agent if delivery is switched off) is displayed as a color diagram. The corresponding expiratory concentration is displayed according to the standardized color of the anesthetic agent. The measured concentration is displayed in the trend as a dark gray area, whereas the calculated concentration in the prediction section is displayed as a light gray area. When the fresh-gas flow is adjusted, two dotted lines (the so-called "what if..." function) are displayed in the prediction section. The prediction waveform changes when the fresh-gas flow is confirmed or settings are changed at the vaporizer.
